Hydrogen Fuel Cells are the projected "backbone" of the Hydrogen Economy. There are issues in Hydrogen supply, and in the efficiency of Fuel Cells which must be explored. I have a page under development to look at Fuel Cell efficiency, and have a hypertext page below for hydrogen production. If hydrogen is made from natural gas in a medium size facility, the efficiency is only 65%. Large facilities with higher efficiency are few, and tend to be in remote locations. Compression of hydrogen from 300 to 6000psi will cost over 10% of the electricity produced by the fuel cell that will use it. This is the cost of transportation.
